Why tandem probes when looking for transverse flaws?
This screencap is from our upcoming wave simulator – notice the huge difference in amplitude of that transverse flaw when using two probes vs just the one.

If the material velocities are different, the wave will bend. If the velocity difference is big enough, the wave can’t make it through!
Honestly wouldn’t have come together without them. Course went really well – next one’s June 1st Face-to-Face Schedule. Get in touch with Emily if you’re keen.
Ever wondered what’s really happening inside a TFM inspection? This animation breaks down Total Focusing Method and Full Matrix Capture step by step — no textbook required. Watch every element fire, every signal get captured, and every pixel resolve into a crystal-clear image. Whether you’re new to advanced UT or brushing up before certification, this is TFM made simple.…
Our new TFM/FMC/PCI course is live and we’re taking registrations. From conventional UT to Phased Array, and now to Total Focusing Method – each generation of UT has expanded what’s possible. Total Focusing Method (TFM) with Full Matrix Capture (FMC) represents the next generation of ultrasonic testing, capturing every possible signal…
We’ve been working hard on a chatbot that actually understands NDT training and certification. Throw your weirdest cert or training question at it, lets see what breaks it: https://kuzer.com/chat
Check it out and give it a go at the Points Calculator for Renewals & Recertifications page.
By measuring the arrival time difference between the tip and corner signals we can use a little math’s and calculate the height of the crack. Find out more on our UT course! Kuzer Schedule (Face to Face)
