ISO 9712:2021 recommends SCS for renewals (every 5 years) and recertifications (every 10 years), requiring 100 points over 5 years from verifiable activities like hands-on NDT work (Part A), training, and contributions (Part B), with category caps, evidence (e.g., reports, verifications), and alternatives like exams for shortfalls – adding complexity amid documentation burdens.
Certifying bodies implement this Structured Credit System variably; for example, AINDT uses SCS only for Level 3 recerts and renewals.
