Exposure Chart Builder

Build an exposure chart from step wedge readings.

1. Capture setup details

Enter the equipment, film, SFD, and target density that should appear on the final chart.

2. Take two separate shots

For each kV you want to chart, you need at least two separate exposures.

3. Use a step wedge in each shot

Each shot should include a step wedge so it spans a range of thicknesses. That gives you two useful measured points from each shot: one near the lower end of the thickness range that kV is suited to, and one near the higher end.

4. Aim to bracket the target density

Because each step wedge shot covers multiple thicknesses, you are more likely to get two different densities that fall above and below the target density. This gives you more flexibility if the first estimated shot time is not quite right and improves the chance of producing valid interpolation points.

5. Review the live chart

The chart updates automatically when enough valid readings are available. Use the grouped list to confirm that each kV and exposure combination has readings that bracket the target density.

Step 3

Live chart workspace

Review the interpolated exposure chart as soon as your readings support it.

Waiting for data
The preview updates automatically. If no chart appears yet, make sure each kV has at least two separate exposures, and that each exposure includes readings above and below the target density.
